Drake announces that he is proud to have graduated high school and thanks his teacher Kim Janzen for her work and support.
Rapper/singer/actor Drake announced that he has graduated high school. It seems Drake has been working diligently for some time on this accomplishment. In his announcement, done through his verified Twitteraccount, the Young Money emcee thanked his teacher for her work and said that it was “one of the greatest feelings in my entire life.” In Drake’s announcement, he also provided his final exam score and grade in the course. The announcement can be found below.
97% on my final exam. 88% in the course. One of the greatest feelings in my entire life. As of tonight I have graduated high school!
Drake also explained that his teacher, Kim Janzen, had an integral role in his graduation. Thanking his teacher, he explained that a lot of work went into this endeavor.
Thank you to my teacher Kim Janzen for spending the last 5 months working tirelessly with me!! OVO SOUND

“I’m actually spending my summer graduating high school,” he said in an interview with Now Toronto. “That’s my main focus after OVO Fest. I only have one credit left, and I’m really excited about that.”
Lil Wayne announces a “Dedication 4” release date, with Big Sean bringing “Detroit,” as MellowHype preps a pre-album mix, along with B.o.B.
The cover art for our release dates piece remains the same as last week, considering new information has surfaced regarding everyone’s favorite rapper to hate, Lil Wayne. Just as Weezy said “Flat out, I don’t like New York” (and rapper Donny Goines retorted with “Flat out, I don’t like you!”) we get a release date for Wayne’sDedication 4. It’s arriving this week on August 30th. Big Sean surprised us too, as he’s coming correct with Detroit on September 5th. Collaborations include J.Cole, Chris Brown, Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa, or as artists like to say “something for everybody.”
Limbo land looks promising too. While MellowHype gears for their album Numbers on October 2nd, Hodgy Beats and Left Brain want to give the fans something to snack on until then. They’re planning a pre-album mixtape. No word yet on what that will look like, but it’s probably coming soon. B.o.B. is working on his next album, but in the meantime will be delivering another mixtape. When is it coming? “Before 2013,” he says.

It looks like Drake and Chris Brown’s bottle throwing scuffle may cost them a whopping $16 million in court.
Even though the controversy has all but died down among fans, Drake and Chris Brown aren’t off the hook yet for their bottle-throwing brawl. Now, it looks like the two artists have been hit with a $16 million lawsuit for the ruckus they caused at the W.i.P. back in June.
In a recent report from The New York Post, Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. has filed suit against Drizzy and Breezy for the fight that ensued between them and their entourages. The suit reads that that the two artists “shared a grudge against [each] other arising out of their romantic relationships with the same woman [Rihanna],” which prompted them to “fight violently with each other” after encountering each other in the club.
The suit continues on to indicate that “each arrived with his own small army of bodyguards [and] ‘security’ personnel…consisting of at least 15 heavily built men trained and/or experienced in hand-to-hand and weapons combat.” It then alleges that upon order of Brown and Drake, ”their two posses had at each other, throwing highball glasses laden with alcohol, shattering the handles of bottles of spirits to use as makeshift knives, and even throwing full bottles at each other.”
Entertainment Enterprises is also suing W.i.P. and its affiliate club Greenhouse for $4 million, as the negative press ruined a licensing deal that the firm and nightclub had negotiated prior to the fight.
Both the club and the artists also face lawsuits from clubgoers injured in the fracas, including San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker. DX will keep you updated as more information comes to light.
The confusion surrounding the Drake-helmed Aaliyah project continues, as Missy Elliott says she doesn’t know a thing about it.
A number of reports indicating that frequent Aaliyah collaborator Missy Elliott would be featured on the late singer’s next album may have been overzealous.
In fact, says Elliott, she didn’t even know the project was coming out.
In a tweet that has since been deleted, the rapper/producer replied to a fan’s statement about the project:
Earlier this week, Jomo Hankerson, an executive at Aaliyah’s Blackground Records stated that “Timbaland will definitely be involved, Missy will definitely be involved.”
Hankerson added that an unreleased Missy record would be revamped and added to the project.
Drake, who is co-executive producing the project with Noah “40” Shebib, stated that he would be including “some classic people, like anybody who used to work with Aaliyah or that was essential in her career, we definitely hope to have them involved.” The statement, while noncommittal, certainly suggests Missy’s involvement.
There has already been significant confusion regarding the project, as Timbaland revealed that he knew nothing about the project, and that “[t]he proper way to do that would be for me, him, and Missy to be all on the record. For it to be on his record, that would not be right.”
Drake lodges his tenth single on the top of the R&B/Hip Hop chart.
Drake has set the record for most number one hits on the R&B/Hip Hop chart, unseating Jay-Z from the throne.
According to ATLR, the Young Money rapper now has had seven collaborations and three lead singles to top the chart, with 2 Chainz’s “No Lie” become the latest on his growing list. Jay-Z has only nine number ones, including four lead singles and five collaborations.
UPDATE #2: Jay-Z, Pearl Jam, D’Angelo, Odd Future and Maybach Music Group are also slated to perform.
Ever since Jay-Z announced that he will be curating Budweiser’s upcoming “Made In America” Festival this September, fans have been clamoring for a full set of who the Roc Nation vet enlisted to perform. Now, it appears as if the first headlining act has been revealed to the public.
Pitchfork Media reports that Seattle rock group Pearl Jam announced via their website that they will perform alongside Hova. The band’s website also indicated that Passion Pit and the Dirty Projectors will also headline the show, although neither band has yet to confirm.
Philly.com also reports that Ticketmaster supposedly let slip that Santigold, OFWGKTA, Skrillex and more will grace the stage this September 1 and 2. The full set list is expected to be revealed when tickets go on sale tomorrow.
UPDATE: The first wave of artists, referred to as Phase 1, has been announced. The performers include Jay-Z, Pearl Jam, Skrillex, Miike Snow, Afrojack, Calvin Harris, Odd Future, D’Angelo, Maybach Music (feat. Rick Ross, Wale, Meek Mill), Passion Pit, Santigold, Dirty Projectors, X, Janelle Monae, Prince Royce, Rita Ora, Savoy (DJ set) and The Knocks.
UPDATE #2: The full lineup for Jay-Z and Budweiser’s “Made in America” festival has been announced. Run-DMC, Drake, Chris Cornell, Gary Clark Jr., The Hives, Burns, DJ Shadow, Alesso, Nicky Romero, Michael Woods and Otto Knows have been added to the bill.
Chris Brown and Drake engaged in a fight at W.i.P. in NYC.
Last night, Drake and Chris Brown reportedly engaged in a fight at W.i.P. at Greenhouse in New York City, New York.
According to Global Grind, the two were at the club when Brown sent a bottle over to Drake. They started arguing about Rihanna - some say that Meek Mill, who was also in attendance, started the fight - and after a heated argument, Drake punched Brown in the face and hit him in the face with a bottle.
TMZ reports that they were throwing bottles in the establishment. The NYPD arrived on the scene after receiving a call between 4 and 5 a.m. They were not present when the cops arrived, and no arrests were made.
Brown later took to Twitter and posted a photo with a gash on his chin. He also went on a rant that he later deleted. “Niggas throwing bottles! Y’all niggaz is weak!” he wrote. “OK! Niggas stand behind security!!!! Ok! U don’t pay them enough! Niggas hiding in the bathroom bitch as niggas! And I’m the singer?”
He capped his tirade with “How u party wit a rich nigga that hate? Lol…. Throwing bottles like girls? #shameonya!”

Pusha T takes aim at Drake and Young Chop on a new cut titled “Exodus 23:1.”
Over a ghostly beat, the G.O.O.D. Music signee takes square aim at Drizzy with lines including, “Beef is when you hide behind them other niggas / But they ain’t killers, they ain’t pullin’ them triggers, fuck niggas.”
He made reference to Drake’s recording contract, most likely referring to the fact that he’s signed to Lil Wayne, who is signed to Birdman whose label is housed under Universal Music. “Contract all fucked / Explain up I guess that means you all fucked up / You signed to one nigga that signed to another nigga that’s signed to three niggas / Now that’s bad luck,” he raps.
Young Chop, on the other hand, got a one-off couplet about his issue with Kanye West remaking his beat for the remix of Chief Keef’s “I Don’t Like.” ”You can keep your beats, nigga / We’d much rather share your bitch, nigga, bitch nigga,” he spits.
Wayne has already outright responded to the comments. “Fuk pusha t and anybody that love em,” he tweeted.
